Hearing Aids

An estimated 35 million Americans have hearing loss. Untreated hearing loss can cause embarrassment, social stress, tension, and fatigue. This is true not only for the person with the hearing loss but also for family members, friends, and colleagues. Despite the negative effect hearing loss can have on one’s life, less than 25% of all people who need hearing aids actually get them. Many people don't realize that the majority of hearing losses can be treated with hearing aids.

Advancements in digital technology have greatly enhanced the signal processing of today’s hearing aids. At Bucks ENT, we offer state-of-the-art digital technology. The digital processing allows for more flexibility in programming the aid. In this way, the sound it transmits matches your specific pattern of hearing loss Hearing aids vary in price according to selected style and electronic features. Hearing aid costs typically increase with more complex and sophisticated circuitry, and are not necessarily on the style and size of the hearing aid. We provide a 30-day trial period on all hearing aids.

During your hearing aid evaluation, our audiologists will help you select the style of hearing aids that will be best for you, with the features you desire. This decision is not only based on your type and degree of hearing loss, but will also take into consideration your lifestyle and level of activity, your physical characteristics, limitations, dexterity, your cosmetic and style preferences, and your budget.

After making a decision as to the type of hearing aid that would be most suitable for you, the audiologist will program your hearing aids to fit your specific hearing loss. At Bucks ENT, verification equipment will be used to determine the exact amount of sound reaching the eardrum with the use of the hearing aids. The audiologist will also provide a comprehensive counseling and orientation program to allow you to use your hearing aids successfully. At this time, the full cost of the hearing aids will be due. We do not bill insurance companies for hearing aid benefits. Please call us for more information.

You will return for follow-up visits during the 30-day trial period after the initial fitting for progress checks and to make any necessary adjustments. At the end of the 30-day trial period, if you are not satisfied with the benefits of your hearing aids, you may elect to try another type, or return the hearing aids for a full refund of the cost of the hearing aids, minus a fitting fee.  Bucks ENT honors the warranty on new hearing aid purchases, which includes any necessary manufacturer repairs. In addition, our audiologists will provide complimentary adjustments during the warrantee period.

Why is it important to purchase your hearing aids from an audiologist?

Once it has been determined that hearing aids are needed, it is best to obtain them from a licensed audiologist. Our audiologists are licensed and certified both nationally and for the state of Pennsylvania. Audiologists receive extensive graduate training to manage many areas of hearing health care. This includes choosing the most appropriate hearing aid for a particular hearing loss, programming the hearing aids in the most effective manner and fine tuning the instruments based on the feedback and needs of each individual patient. Their scope of practice also includes the non-medical evaluation and management of hearing and balance disorders.

Do I need a hearing aid for both ears?

When hearing loss affects both ears, even if one ear is affected more than the other, it is recommended to use binaural amplification. In many cases, using hearing aids in both ears benefits the user because of how the ears and the brain work together to understand sounds. Trying to communicate in a noisy environment becomes very difficult when the ears are not balanced. It is also very difficult to distinguish from which direction sounds are coming when a hearing aid is only used on one ear. Binaural hearing aids can make hearing clearer, less distorted, more balanced and more natural.

Our audiologists dispense hearing aids from all of the major hearing aid manufacturers.
